Back From My Holiday

What a wonderful break I had. Everyday was spent on the top deck of a ship in the glorious sunshine. I had my stitching in one hand & a cocktail in the other :-)
The trip wasn't without it's moments. When we got to our stateroom our luggage was already waiting at our door so we decided to unpack straight away. It was at this point that I found I had packed the incorrect bag of cross stitch :'( I had sorted out two small WIP Lizzie Kate designs to complete & the Lizzie Kate Boo Club series to make a start on. I was slightly gutted as our whole trip was based around us doing lots of stitching. The good news is that I did at least pack some stitching, it was my other Lizzie Kate SAL.... Christmas By The Letter. This is what it looked like at the start of the cruise & this is what it looked like at the end:

I have one other piece of stitching to share & it's not cross stitch but instead a mini quilt. I know I haven't posted a picture of Roberts finished quilt yet but thats because I still have some more finishing to do but it is getting there... promise. My newly finished quilt is to double up as a logo for my new blog/shop/thing which I've been (slowly) working on. It'll be called Lisa G Creations & I hope to sell a mixture of the little things that I make & with any luck some of the bigger things that I intend on making too. I hope you like my little quilt, it took me a week of evenings to complete.

I used a charm pack from moda called Boutique by Chez Moi, a fat quarter of cream with gold stars for the centre panel & plain cream for the border, binding & backing. I managed to get hold of a fat quarter of one of the red Boutique fabrics to use for the "L". Eventually I'd like this to hand in my studio behind my work station... well one of my workstations :-)

More to share but it'll have to wait until next time.

Happy stitching :-)

Yay... new stash :-)

Over on the Lizzie Kate Lovers blog I've signed up to do a SAL & I chose to stitch the Boo Club series. The problem I had is that I didn't actually own the charts. After searching online & managed to find the set at a brilliant price so ordered them up asap. Today they have arrived :-)

Annoyingly I don't have any of threads though so if I want to take this on my holiday this weekend as a new start I'm going to have to make a further small purchase!

My other new stash arrival is this lovely red fabric. It's part of the Boutique range by Chez Moi for Moda. I have a Boutique charm pack which I'm currently making up as my new logo (more on that when it's done!) & I needed an extra piece of fabric for the center.

I have half hour until the twins are up from their nap... time for some sewing.

Happy stitching :-)

V and A Quilt Exhibition

This monday my friend & I headed up town to the Victoria & Albert museum to take a look around the Quilts 1700-2010 Exhibition. I had a lovely time. Some of the quilts were truely amazing, the detail in the handquilting was out of this world. I definitely have some favourites, these include a Patchwork Coverlet by Elisabeth Chapman dated 1829, this was totally amazing to see. The tiny patchwork pieces still had all of their tacking stitches in them & the paper was still in the back. The museum did a wondeful job in displaying this piece as it was hung behind glass where you could get right up close to the front & also they had glass sections on the back so you could see the paper pieces. One of my other favs is a more modern piece by Janey Forgan called Liberty Jack. This was made using Liberty prints & all in the shapes of the Union Jack. I managed to sneak a picture of this one... it was also one of Kelly's favourites.
I bought a few little bits in the shop. A new thimble, a set of coasters, a pack of postcards & my favourite purchase... a fat quarter bundle of Liberty Prints inspired by the exhibition. It took me ages to decide which bundle to have & I chose this one as it has a mixure of prints that I really like & some that I wouldn't usually have picked.

Unfortunately I have no stitching updates to share with you. I've done a little stitching over the last couple of weeks but nothing to warrant a pictures. Maybe over the weekend I'll make enough progress to share with you.

Happy Stitching :-)
